The Founders of the start-up, CEO Luke Mackey, CTO Patrick O'Boyle, and Director of Engineering Deepak Baliga, were all impatient with the cumbersome, paper-based process of setting up employee perks. Before that, Mackey founded the food-tech app Bamboo and served as Bolt's country manager. While Baliga was a former engineer at the Irish food-tech unicorn Flipdish, O'Boyle served as CTO of Bamboo.
Yonder stated that it would streamline the delivery of benefits to an underserved generation of workers using the additional 2.6 million euros in funds. Its platform promises to simplify the process for firms offering pension, health, dental, and vision benefits to workers, wherever they may be employed. Additionally, it provides a mobile app that enables employees to manage their benefits.
Although Yonder regularly adds businesses to its waitlist before onboarding them, the program is currently in beta. Businesses will soon be able to combine the platform with current HR products like Personio and BambooHR. According to Mackey, Yonder is completely redesigning the employee benefits experience. Access to essential employee benefits used to be scalable and efficient, but because laborious, sluggish processes now dominate it, the sector is mired in inefficiency.
By partnering with forward-thinking carriers and expanding their portfolio to make it easier for international firms and their employees to access, Yonder is modernising the 100 billion USD employee benefits market, beginning with health insurance and pensions.
The oversubscribed investment round included Cocoa, Broadstone, Uncommon Projects, and other angel investors, in addition to Northzone and Frontline Ventures. Yonder will utilise the additional funding to quicken the development of new products and make hiring decisions for engineering, product, go-to-market, and commercial positions. To fulfil the rising demand in the rest of Europe, the start-up plans to further expand into already established areas like the UK and Ireland and new ones.
