The most important thing managers should understand is that employee engagement is a mindset; and to yield results from these engagement activities you have to start with the “why” of the matter, with each activity and event you plan.
FREMONT, CA: As a manager, keeping your employees engaged is perhaps the biggest challenge you face. It’s also an outstanding opportunity to attain long-term commitment and discretionary effort from your team. That effort will ultimately lead to higher sales and lesser mistakes.

Here are some employee engagement activities that can keep the staff engaged and interested.
1. Create a knowledge sharing system
Loss of important information is one of the highest costs of a high employee turnover rate. A knowledge-sharing system helps you evade that cost, to some extent, and it’s also a great engagement driver for new people. Companies can adopt some mentorship programs pairing experienced employees with newly hired ones or use communication software. Make a learning program template that workers should follow, giving them space to test their learning methods. Give them a deadline and a set of objectives.
2. Encourage and provide learning opportunities
Institutions can create their academies, where employees can access the knowledge and development opportunities that they need. Lack of learning prospects is one of the top three reasons where workers quit companies. To make this learning process, more interesting administrators can arrange Graduation ceremony, with caps and flowers, and even a fun night out. Employee’s needs and preferences should be assessed to decide how to schedule these learning initiatives.
3. Give back
Gather the team together, have everyone pitch a cause, and pick the one you want to support. It’s essential that you make it personal, that you make it count. You can contribute either time and involvement or money. Get involved in social and charity initiatives. Giving back creates a positive mentality. It also fosters pride and loyalty.
4. The League of Extraordinary Managers
Managers are a crucial business component and an equally important engagement driver. Coaching programs should be arranged for the managers to teach them towards maximum contribution and satisfaction, align them with the organization’s strategy.
5. Public talks
All the institutions can create a TEDx platform of their own to share ideas, encourage innovation, and boost creativity. Make a workplace less about work and more about the people there. Give them a chance to be the source of their inspiration, boosting morale and creativity for everyone in the company.
6. Create your internal magazine
Companies should create their internal employee-focused magazine with different sections, including news, fun columns, featured stories, and opportunities. It can be a printed one or an online magazine.
7. Let workers create their own onboarding experience
Create a self-guided onboarding experience. People are more likely to remember and absorb information that they get on their own. Set the ground rules; give those fundamental instructions, a list of objectives, and a deadline.

8. Encourage knowledge sharing in a creative way
Teams are often isolated within their project and their workspace, that they have no idea what the rest of the company is doing. Make an open sharing space, once every two months or so, where every team can show updates on their project. Teams will evolve much more quickly, using the information shared and the different experiences on every project. To reduce the risk of this turning into a dull, mandatory hours meeting, make it fun and creative. You can also set a theme per each sharing session.
9. Show them the money
Nothing makes trust like showing someone your financial statement, and that is what you should do in your company. Encourage employees to take responsibility for the success of the company if you want them to put in their discretionary effort.
10. Have a hack night
Break monotony with an ambitious working night. Set an objective, create your own set of rules (breaks, music, snacks, etc.) and try to be as fruitful as possible in just one night. Gather all the workers together and test creative and operational limits.
