Create a Smoke-free Workplace
Everybody knows that tobacco smoking is a major factor causing deaths all over the world. According to the CDC, the number of deaths caused by smoking tobacco is nearly seven million every year. Hence, organizations should prioritize developing a smoke-free workplace to promote employee wellness. Employers can take a few initiatives to promote a smoke-free environment, such as encouraging employees who smoke to consult with a doctor to quit the bad habit, starting a “quit-smoking” program, and developing a smoke-free company events policy.
Improve Mental Health
A person’s mental health status often goes undermined. Mental fitness is as necessary as physical fitness. Companies should pay heed to employees’ mental health. There are a lot of factors that can impact an employee’s mental health, such as extra workload, lay off, poor work-life balance, organizational changes, unsupportive mangers and colleagues, and hostile work environment. To take care of employees’ mental health employers can create a company-wide mental health plan, encourage positive communication in the workplace, hire a mental health counsellor to help employees deal with their issues, and create strategies to prevent bullying and unprofessional behaviour in the workplace.
