Q1: Could you share a bit about your professional journey and what led you to your current role on Mars?

My journey in the learning and development field has been both exciting and fulfilling. I began as an instructional designer, working on various e-learning projects across industries. Over time, I developed a keen interest in how digital transformation impacts learning. This curiosity led me to pursue advanced studies in learning technologies, eventually bringing me to Mars. Here, I've been able to shape and drive innovative learning experiences that align with our global business strategy. My role at Mars allows me to integrate cutting-edge digital tools and methodologies into our training programs, ensuring that our associates are well-equipped to meet the demands of an ever-evolving market.

Q2: How do you assess the evolving landscape of digital marketing and how does it influence your training strategies?

Digital marketing constantly evolves, with new platforms, technologies, and strategies emerging regularly. This dynamic landscape necessitates a flexible and adaptive approach to training. At Mars, we closely monitor trends in digital marketing to ensure our training content remains relevant and impactful. We leverage data analytics to understand market shifts and consumer behaviour, which informs the development of our training programs. By integrating real-time data and insights into our training strategies, we empower our associates to stay ahead of the curve and drive business growth through innovative marketing approaches.

Q3: How do you design assessment methods and performance metrics to measure the effectiveness and impact of training interventions on individual competence and organizational performance?

Effective assessment methods and performance metrics are crucial for understanding the impact of our training programs. At Mars, we use qualitative and quantitative approaches to measure training effectiveness. We design assessments that align with specific learning objectives and competencies, incorporating tools like pre- and post-training evaluations, 360-degree feedback and real-world simulations. Additionally, we track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as productivity, engagement and retention rates to gauge the broader impact on organisational performance. By continuously refining our metrics and assessment methods, we ensure that our training interventions drive meaningful improvements in individual and organizational outcomes.

"Invest in understanding the evolving needs of your workforce and leverage data to drive decision-making. Be open to experimenting with new technologies and methodologies, and foster a culture that values continuous learning and development to drive long-term organizational success"

Q4: Could you provide examples of leadership development strategies you've implemented to address specific organizational challenges or goals?

Leadership development is a cornerstone of our training strategy at Mars. One of the critical programs we've implemented is our "GLMe" initiative, which focuses on cultivating a pipeline of future leaders through targeted training, mentorship and hands-on projects. For instance, to address the challenge of leading diverse, global teams, we developed a series of workshops and e-learning modules on cross-cultural communication and inclusive leadership.

Q5: What strategies do you recommend to foster a culture of continuous employee learning and skill development?

Fostering a culture of continuous learning requires a holistic approach that includes leadership support, accessible learning resources and a growth mindset. At Mars, we encourage our leaders to model continuous learning behaviours and actively promote team learning opportunities. We provide a wide range of learning resources, from on-demand e-learning courses to collaborative learning platforms, making it easy for associates to access and engage with content relevant to their roles and career aspirations. Additionally, we emphasize the importance of feedback and reflection, creating an environment where associates feel empowered to take ownership of their development and seek out new learning experiences.

Q6: What trends do you see in online corporate training that are shaping the future of the workplace?

Several trends are shaping the future of online corporate training. Firstly, the rise of artificial intelligence and machine learning transforms how we personalize and deliver training content. AI-driven platforms can analyse individual learning patterns and preferences, providing tailored recommendations and adaptive learning paths. Secondly, integrating immersive technologies like virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) enhances the interactivity and realism of training experiences. Lastly, there's a growing emphasis on social and collaborative learning, with platforms facilitating peer-to-peer knowledge sharing and community building. These trends are making corporate training more engaging, compelling and aligned with the needs of a modern workforce.

Q7: What advice would you give to other senior leaders and CXOs on effectively navigating the challenges in corporate training?

I advise senior leaders and CXOs to embrace a strategic and agile approach to corporate training. Invest in understanding the evolving needs of your workforce and leverage data to drive decision-making. Be open to experimenting with new technologies and methodologies and don't be afraid to iterate on your training programs based on feedback and results. Most importantly, it fosters a culture that values continuous learning and development, which will drive long-term organizational success. By staying attuned to industry trends and maintaining a learner-centric focus, you can navigate corporate training challenges and create a resilient, future-ready workforce.
