Building Connections That Drive Talent

People Strategy Authority

Marshall Naiman is a Los Angeles-based talent acquisition and recruiting professional with more than two decades of experience identifying, attracting and hiring exceptional talent. Throughout his career, he has built a reputation for developing strong relationships with candidates and hiring leaders while delivering recruiting strategies that support the broader needs of the business.

Connecting Talent with Opportunity

My background spans corporate talent acquisition, executive search, sourcing and full-cycle recruiting, with experience hiring professionals across a wide range of functions, industries and levels of seniority. I have spent much of my career working within complex, high-growth organizations where recruiting requires a combination of business acumen, market knowledge, persistence and an ability to develop credibility with senior leaders. I view recruiting as much more than filling open positions.

Successful talent acquisition begins with understanding the business, recognizing what makes an organization and opportunity compelling, and connecting talented people with roles where they have an opportunity to succeed and make a meaningful impact. I currently work with KARL STORZ North America, where I have spent approximately 10 years building my expertise within the medical technology and healthcare industry.

"While talent acquisition is fundamentally about people and relationships, I believe great recruiters also need to understand how businesses operate."

During my tenure, I have partnered with leaders and hiring managers to recruit talent across a variety of disciplines, functions and experience levels. Working within the medical technology industry has given me an appreciation for the importance of identifying individuals who combine strong technical or functional capabilities with leadership ability, adaptability and a commitment to organizational success.

Adapting Recruitment to Business Needs

My longevity with KARL STORZ has also allowed me to develop a deep understanding of the organization, its business and the talent necessary to support continued growth. I approach recruiting as a strategic partnership with the business, working to understand not simply the requirements listed in a job description but the challenges a new hire will need to solve, the team they will join, and the qualities that will ultimately make someone successful within the organization.

Prior to joining KARL STORZ, I spent approximately seven years with The Wonderful Company, a six-billion-dollar CPG company, where I further developed my recruiting experience in a fast-paced and highly entrepreneurial business environment. My time with The Wonderful Company exposed me to the challenges of talent acquisition within a large, diversified consumer organization and strengthened my ability to recruit across multiple functions and business needs.

In addition, I completed recruiting engagements with Red Bull North America, Live Nation, and Beachbody, expanding my experience across several prominent consumer-focused organizations. These opportunities exposed me to the beverage, entertainment, and health and fitness industries and further strengthened my ability to adapt recruiting strategies to different cultures, talent markets, and business models. This breadth of experience has shaped my ability to quickly understand different businesses and talent markets while adapting my recruiting strategy to the needs of each organization. Whether searching for an emerging professional, an experienced individual contributor or a senior leader, I bring the same combination of curiosity, persistence, responsiveness and attention to detail to the process.

Bringing a Business Lens to Talent

My professional perspective is also rooted in my Southern California background and business education. I grew up in San Diego, later moving across the country to attend Boston University, where I studied business management with a concentration in finance. Today, I live in Los Angeles, a city that has served as the center of much of my professional career.

My education in business and finance has continued to influence the way I approach recruiting. While talent acquisition is fundamentally about people and relationships, I believe great recruiters also need to understand how businesses operate. They need to recognize how different functions contribute to an organization, understand the priorities of the leaders they support, and appreciate the financial and strategic impact that hiring decisions can have.

That business-oriented perspective allows me to approach conversations with hiring managers as a talent advisor rather than simply as someone responsible for managing a recruiting process.

Making Career Decisions Meaningful

At the center of my career is a genuine interest in people and the decisions that shape their professional lives. I understand that accepting a new position can represent a major turning point in someone’s career, whether it provides an opportunity for greater responsibility, leadership, professional development, financial growth or the chance to work for an organization whose mission and culture align with their goals. I strive to make those conversations candid, thoughtful and productive while balancing the interests of both the candidate and the organization.

My philosophy remains straightforward: understand the business, listen to people, communicate honestly, build trust and connect great talent with opportunities where they can make a lasting impact.
