Doria’s Professional Journey

With over 25 years of experience, I have played a pivotal role in shaping high-performing cultures within Best Place to Work companies. My passion lies in building strong organizational cultures and executing strategies that drive both company growth and the development of high-performing teams. Throughout my career, I have led HR functions across FMCG, automotive, services and hi-tech industries, working with global organizations such as Fonterra Brands, BMW Philippines, Sodexo Philippines and LG Electronics. My leadership has been recognized through multiple regional and local awards, and I contribute to Manage HR Magazine to support the HR community.

“HR is more than a function—it is a strategic driver of sustainable growth and innovation.”

As the Asia Region HR Director at LG Electronics, I serve as a strategic advisor across 11 subsidiaries like Australia, China, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan and Philippines and extended support to on non-sales subsidiaries like Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand, aligning HR strategies with business goals and developing HR capabilities.

Evolving Leadership Philosophy

My leadership philosophy has evolved from transactional HR management to a strategic, people-centric approach. Initially focused on efficiency and compliance. Over time, I embraced innovation, inclusivity and customer value creation as key drivers of HR success. Leveraging data analytics for talent management and emphasizing employee experience has boosted engagement and satisfaction. Integrity, transparency, inclusivity, and commitment to development remain central to my leadership, fostering a culture where employees feel valued and motivated to excel.

Adapting HR Strategies across Global Organizations

Having worked in multinational corporations, I understand the importance of adapting HR strategies to align with different business models, cultural dynamics and corporate objectives. Each organization has a unique philosophy that influences HR practices. At BMW, the brand’s commitment to “Sheer Driving Pleasure” drives a culture of excellence, innovation and customer satisfaction. At Sodexo, the mission of “Providing Quality of Life” fosters a service-oriented culture with a focus on well-being and social responsibility. At LG Electronics, the philosophy of “Life’s Good” inspires employees to enhance customer experiences through innovation, collaboration and sustainability. By aligning HR strategies with these guiding principles, I ensure that talent development, employee engagement and organizational culture support both business success and employee growth.

Key HR Initiatives: Talent Development & Succession Planning

One of the most impactful HR initiatives I led was the implementation of a talent development and succession planning program at Toyota Manila Bay Group (TMBG), which operates five dealerships. As the business rapidly expanded, we recognized the need to strengthen the leadership pipeline to sustain long-term growth. To address this, we launched the TMBG Talent Taste (T3s) program to identify and develop high-potential employees. This initiative involved:

• Conducting talent assessments for critical roles in sales and marketing.

• Introducing mentorship programs, cross-functional project opportunities and leadership training workshops.

• Implementing talent rotation to position senior professionals in high-growth dealerships.

• Establishing an executive-level shared service group to oversee the program.

Over 2-3 years, this program boosted internal promotions, reduced turnover, and enhanced leadership development. Employees in leadership roles drove new business units, fostering revenue growth and sustainable expansion. Similar strategies have been applied across other companies, aligning with each organization’s vision and talent needs.

Driving HR Excellence through Data and Technology

In today’s evolving business landscape, data and technology are essential in shaping HR strategies. I have championed the use of data analytics in workforce planning, performance management and employee engagement. By integrating HR technology platforms and leveraging analytics, I have enhanced decision-making processes and streamlined HR operations. At LG Electronics, implementing data-driven HR solutions has enabled a more proactive approach to talent development and workforce optimization across the Asia region.

Managing HR Challenges in a Global Context

Leading HR in a multinational environment presents unique challenges, from navigating diverse labor laws and cultural expectations to aligning HR policies across different regions. My approach has always been to balance global HR best practices with localized strategies tailored to each country’s workforce dynamics. I ensure that HR policies support both corporate objectives and the well-being of employees.
