Building the Future of People Operations

Amber Armstrong

Amber Armstrong

As a People Leader, Amber Armstrong has built global workforce infrastructure across three B2B SaaS companies, and demonstrates what a lean, tech native people function looks like for the next generation of business. Her approach centers on innovative companies operating at the intersection of rapid growth, artificial intelligence, and exceptional talent. Her path to People leadership began with a foundation in Industrial-organizational psychology and early work as a Civil Litigation Paralegal before transitioning into technology. She later earned both an MBA and SPHR, building expertise that joins human insight and legal perspective with business strategy.

Working within an AI-native company, Armstrong has seen a new talent challenge: identifying candidates who can combine AI fluency with genuine expertise. She explains that the focus is not simply finding people who use AI, but ensuring they have paired knowledge and judgment to apply those tools effectively.

While many organizations still work to encourage employees to use AI, Armstrong shares that companies like Jump have advanced to a phase of AI optimization and measurable return: bringing greater rigor and selectivity to AI usage, so investment remains tied to meaningful business value and return on investment.

She emphasizes that “AI use should be deliberate and purposeful, not driven by novelty alone; adoption should be tied to clear efficiency, effectiveness, and return on investment.”

Cultivating Talent Through Growth

As Jump broadened its vision from an AI meeting assistant to a comprehensive AI operating system, it carried the same ambition behind building products that are “sticky like honey” into the employee experience—creating an environment where talented people want to stay because they are continuously growing.

Armstrong states that “a career at Jump should be an inflection point: a place where talented people accelerate, take on greater responsibility, and ultimately become more capable than when they arrived.”

“AI should deepen the analysis behind decisions—surface overlooked information, challenge assumptions, and help us see beyond the limits of individual perspective—without replacing human accountability for the final judgement call.”

Armstrong views clarity as essential to effective change management through rapid growth, helping employees understand not only what is changing and why, but how their role contributes, where ownership sits, and what success looks like as the business evolves. Her team regularly gathers employee insights, reads every word, and works to translate feedback into action. She views maintaining culture not as protecting the status quo, but as preserving momentum and foundational values while the work itself evolves.

Leveraging AI While Preserving Accountability

While Armstrong embraces AI as a powerful tool across the people function, she draws a distinction between augmenting human capability and replacing ultimate accountability on consequential matters: “For the sensitive side of People Operations, I employ AI more like an ‘Iron Man suit’ than an autonomous ‘Terminator’—amplifying human capability without replacing professional judgment.”

Her team uses AI to enhance the work computers are exceptionally well suited to perform: structuring information, identifying patterns, surfacing overlooked context, challenging assumptions, and processing data with greater speed and detail than would otherwise be possible. The objective is not to remove people from consequential decisions, but to give skilled professionals better tools to do their best work.

At the same time, Armstrong is careful not to treat today’s boundaries as permanent. AI capabilities are advancing rapidly; she believes People leaders should remain open to re-evaluating where the appropriate division between technology and human judgment ultimately lands.

A Vision for Modern People Leadership

Armstrong is at the forefront of the HR evolution, building agile People teams that are automated where possible and adaptable when needed. She sees traditional HR functions becoming leaner, more technology-enabled, and more closely connected to broader business strategy. Looking ahead, she anticipates employer brand becoming increasingly connected with customer brand, as lines continue to blur between employee experience and external perception.

Nominated for her forward-thinking leadership and impact, Amber Armstrong has been recognized as a Top 10 Head of People and Culture for 2026.
