Matthew D. Anderson, MS, MBA, Chief Executive OfficerThe following is an interview with, Matthew D. Anderson, the firm’s CEO and primary Leadership Coach. He shares how they develop Leaders who motivate, inspire, and empower those around them to make a difference in their organization, and get results.
How has Leadership Coaching for Results established itself in the market?
We believe three things:
• Every person has the ability to behave like a Leader
• You already have this power inside of you
• We can show you how to use it
We empower each client to own who they are as a Leader, having them identify their own priorities and action items, and hold them accountable to themselves. We explore topics with an engaging approach that makes even veteran managers state that the content is fresh, exciting, and relevant to the realities of today.
One of the biggest purchasing objections to development work is the difficulty in measuring results. That’s why we have a strong focus on challenging our clients to demonstrate Leadership in real-time, with quantifiable outcomes. On average, each of our clients find over $100,000 in positive financial impact for their organizations within 12 months.
Further, in every single development program I’ve run since 2013, at least 1 person has been promoted during the program, and over 80% of those seeking a promotion have secured it within 12 months of completion. Those are great results.
What motivated you to build Leadership Coaching for Results?
In 2019 I was riding a series of career highs, having recently completed two graduate degrees, being recognized by Dale Carnegie & Associates as the #1 Corporate Trainer in the World, and being asked to lead a new mental health nonprofit starting in January of 2020. I had fast success securing government funding, then COVID changed everything. Eventually it became clear that the only viable path for the nonprofit’s long-term success was to lay myself off, which I did in July of 2020.
After 19 years of work, I found myself unemployed at the peak of my career. Spending time to process it all lead to thinking about what I wanted to do next. I felt called to serve those who were going through challenges that I had already successfully navigated. I was also already well aware of topics that were sorely missing in the space, like Respect, Empathy, Service, and Trust. So I combined my knowledge, skills, education, experiences, and passion, and opened Leadership Coaching for Results to inspire folks to help make our world a happier and fulfilling place for all.
Who are your typical clients, and what are the challenges they face?
One of the biggest challenges we see facing our clients, and society as a whole, is an unhealthy relationship with conflict. That’s why I wrote the book, There’s No Such Thing as Right and Wrong. Exploring real-world instances of perpetually topical dyadic conflict, the book, which was endorsed by a former Governor, helps the reader to realize that they have the ability to transform conflict into collaboration. Rather than damning each other for our differences, we can seek to understand why they believe what they believe, which leads to respect, which allow us to work with them in spite of our differences.
What are the processes that you follow while onboarding clients?
We always start with this concept: Managers are busy... Leaders REST.
-
Managers are busy... Leaders REST. Leaders [Give] Respect, [Demonstrate] Empathy, [Are of] Service, and [Build] Trust. And they role-model selfcare
Leaders [Give] Respect, [Demonstrate] Empathy, [Are of] Service, and [Build] Trust. And they role-model selfcare. When our team sees us demonstrating (un)healthy behaviors, they will subconsciously begin to emulate them. This is influence, which is the Leader’s power source.
We also talk about The Results Equation, which is the psychological flow-through all humans follow in order to get results; whole-life vision setting, which informs 5-year goals; and then identify the behaviors we need to start practicing immediately in order to achieve whole-life success.
Can you elaborate on some of the services that you offer to your clients?
