EDITORIAL

Building Stronger Organizations through People Leadership

People leadership plays an important role in helping organizations develop talent, support employees and meet business goals. This edition of Manage HR explores how HR leaders are approaching these priorities and building workplaces that support both employee growth and organizational success.

The cover story recognizes Dr. Ripley Fuller, Chief People Officer at The Stonegate Firm, as Chief People Officer of the Year 2026. The recognition highlights the role of people leadership in connecting employee needs with business goals. A Chief People Officer does more than manage HR activities. The role also involves understanding employees, supporting leaders and making workforce decisions that align with the organization’s priorities.

The issue also features perspectives from Imran Hashmi,Senior Director Data and Digital Strategy at AbbVie, and Elisa Glazer, Ph.D., Vice President of Leadership & Organizational Transformation at Burlington Stores, Inc. People insights help organizations better understand their workforce, while leadership and organizational transformation focus on guiding people and managing change. Together, these areas show how HR can use data and leadership to support organizational goals.

These perspectives point to the breadth of the modern HR function. Effective people leadership requires more than individual initiatives. It calls for a considered understanding of workforce needs, organizational direction and the leadership practices that help bring the two together. Analytical insight and organizational development each offer a different lens through which HR leaders can assess challenges and guide decisions.

Explore this edition of Manage HR to consider the leadership approaches and people-focused perspectives shaping the profession. The stories offer an opportunity to reflect on how HR can continue contributing to organizational effectiveness through informed decisions, strong leadership and a clear understanding of people’s role in business success.
