Thriving organizations of tomorrow will be the ones willing to adopt regeneration as a core principle. Designed to restore degraded living ecosystems and improve the well-being of communities, regenerative organizations address the challenges posed by climate change, social inequality, and economic instability. Leading such an organization is no mean feat. Leaders need to adapt to socio-political uncertainties, promote a purpose-driven vision that aligns with the needs of all stakeholders, and inspire others to create a sustainable future.

Cultivating Wholeness, a network-based global coaching and advisory firm, helps build purposeful leaders to head regenerative organizations and actively evolve ecosystems, communities, and economies.

The firm is built upon the expertise and experience of founder and CEO Sarah Grigsby, who guides and coaches businesses in their transition into becoming more sustainable and regenerative. She supports them in their strategy and operations, designs their business, and shapes their culture and leadership behaviour.

“There is much re-skilling and support needed to make businesses future-fit and help them adopt a more regenerative stance. Being able to mend that existing skill-gap is essentially where my business comes in,” says Sarah Grigsby.

Whether dealing with the growing number of natural disasters, pandemic-induced inflations, or the Great Resignation, business leaders are frequently subjected to burnouts that leave organizations directionless.

Cultivating Wholeness combines the power of nature, strategy, and science to help leaders thrive in a rapidly changing landscape.

Upon partnering with a client, Grigsby helps them explore the purpose of the business, its values, and the direction it wants to take. She then curates a series of activities through one-to-one coaching, small group facilitations, or systemic-level interventions. These help clients gain a fair understanding of their environment, develop a detailed view of the dynamics within their ecosystem, and design ways to navigate them.

Based on these outlines, she works with senior leaders and managers to test multiple business models and extract the most impactful one that best suits their environment.

To ensure there are significant shifts in perception and learning among leaders, Grigsby adopts a multidisciplinary approach to regenerative leadership development. It comprises a synergy of neuroscience, organizational development studies, history, evolutionary biology, and circular economy that helps leaders form a holistic view of their business.

For instance, drawing inspiration from the unique way trees in a forest interact with each other and share nutrients through a network of mushrooms, she assists clients in building their business network with the same intention. This approach encourages leaders to use biophilic, eco-friendly designs for their products, like choosing pineapple- and mushroom-based leather over cow leather.

Grigsby has curated a network of expert consultants to meet each client’s diverse and specific needs. The experts offer bespoke programs, tailored one-to-one sessions, and deep-dive workshops to build the necessary skills and capabilities within organizations. This enables the clients to reach a stage where they can independently turn their regenerative business ideas into reality.

On one occasion, Cultivating Wholeness partnered with a maritime client that wanted to minimize their detrimental effects on the environment and reach their ESG goals. Although the client had their key business values in place, they lacked proper understanding of their ecosystem to take the next steps.

Cultivating Wholeness facilitated a series of workshops that helped the client transform their product in line with their mission. It also assisted them in leveraging their knowledge of the ecosystem to shift to a regenerative mindset and drive transformative change across the company.

In another instance, employees of an organization were reeling from the long-term impact of a toxic work environment created by one of its former executives. Grigsby accompanied its newly-appointed head and coaching team to establish a regenerative culture meant to prevent incidents affecting employees’ well-being, productivity, and performance. Since then, the company has experienced a massive improvement in workplace mood and energy.

The world needs change, and every business leader looking to catalyze the regenerative way of doing business and secure a more sustainable future can end their search with Cultivating Wholeness.
