“Our main business is to guide Japan’s leading companies through the complexities of globalization in a VUCA world while also helping them to capitalize on their organizations’ diversity,” says LGS President and CEO Masanao Kawauchi. Targeting the areas of global HR and intercultural communication, LGS helps clients build corporate cultures and teams, as well as train individuals capable of succeeding on the global stage. The company’s focus lies in providing mindset- and skills-development programs, not just for executive teams, but for all employees who need to display leadership in a global or multicultural environment, whether that be inside or outside Japan.
LGS supports clients in developing talent who understand themselves in the context of their business field and who are able to lead multicultural and diverse teams. “We don’t rely on one-off solutions,” says Kawauchi, “but instead use a systematic approach to ensure the strategic strengthening of the capabilities of the organization as a whole.” Further, LGS helps clients stay ahead of Japan’s shrinking labor market and diminishing talent-acquisition capabilities by designing systematic organizational and personnel development approaches tailored to each client’s needs. This enables organizations to enhance their capabilities overall to ensure that the right employees receive the right training at the right time.
As for the company’s training seminars, LGS provides participants with far more than just theoretical knowledge, placing great emphasis on teaching real, applicable skills in an entertaining and engaging way. This helps participants develop a deeper understanding of themselves in the global context of their business and teaches them how to lead multicultural and diverse teams. “We use mainly workshops and seminars to maximize our clients’ potential through organizational development,” says Kawauchi. Depending on clients’ needs, LGS will tailor the focus of its seminars or customize its training content.

Our main business is to guide Japan’s leading companies through the complexities of globalization in a VUCA world while also helping them to capitalize on their organizations’ diversity,” says LGS President and CEO Masanao Kawauchi.
For example, one of LGS’s most popular, and most successful, workshop programs is the Global Mindset Series. This workshop lineup, which focuses on how companies and individuals should address the business field in which they work, aims to empower companies and individuals in this global, VUCA era. The workshops, which are sometimes delivered to up to 100 participants at a time, feature entertaining and educational global business quizzes, skits, and dialogues designed to spark lively discussions and full engagement. Another popular and versatile workshop focuses on intercultural and diversity management, capitalizing on the unique capabilities of LGS’s bilingual instructor teams. “Other workshops that we regularly deliver include those for global portable skills, such as assertiveness, persuasion, and global meeting facilitation; and those targeting specific business skills, such as those required for global meetings, presentations, and writing,” adds Kawauchi.
Amid the major impact of COVID-19 on local globalization, LGS is working with many companies to support an increasing number of long-term cross-country projects, helping them to update their entire learning and development frameworks to make use of more action-based learning, among other things. “Our clients’ needs with regard to globalization and diversity are constantly changing,” says Kawauchi. “As a result, we are also constantly working on improving our methodologies and services.” In addition, LGS’s parent company, Link and Motivation, is looking to expand overseas in the coming years, aiming to establish itself on the world stage as a global HR consultancy from Japan.
