The challenge lies in taking insights and translating them into action and an organization-wide transformation. That's where BCT is well equipped to support them. We offer a myriad of services, and at the forefront of those services are our assessments. Before we diagnose a situation and provide specific services to our clients, we have to assess the maturity of their DEI capabilities.Understanding the dynamics of the workforce and assessing the workplace environment is critical to prescribing the right set of services, tools, and interventions to assist an organization in making progress. In addition to the assessment, we help put together a strategic plan to figure out how DEI can be integrated into the overall business strategy. BCT also helps with performance measurement, monitoring and management to ascertain that we are moving the needle on the client's priority areas. This is achieved by combining information technology, data analytics, behavioral science, and other subject matter expertise along with training and facilitation, helping people adapt to change and translate ideas into actions.Could you elaborate on how your solutions have a long-lasting impact in terms of diversity and inclusion?Dr. Pinkett: In April 2019, we launched a Virtual Reality (VR) program that is transforming DEI training programs and helps mitigate unconscious bias in the workplace. The VR program--"Through My Eyes"--is a 360-degree, video-based virtual reality immersion that enables participants to recognize unconscious bias through scenarios that can be played out in real-time. "Through My Eyes" enables employees to gain a better appreciation of how everyone sees the world differently, and in doing so, engender greater human understanding and empathy for one another. Even during the pandemic, our clients have been able to experience the VR immersions on a mobile phone, tablet, laptop, or desktop.Could you provide us a customer success story where you were able to cater to the client's specific needs?Dr. Pinkett: In 2018, when Virtua, a non-profit healthcare system in southern New Jersey, was in the process of acquiring Lourdes Health System, they wanted to conduct a cultural assessment of both organizations. Recognizing that culture clash is the number one reason why mergers and acquisitions fail, they hired us to perform an assessment. As part of the assessment, we noticed that DEI was an area that would benefit from greater attention. On the heels of that assessment, Virtua brought us in to assist them on their journey to greater diversity, equity, and inclusiveness. We conducted a more specific assessment to understand where they stood in their DEI journey and they have made tremendous progress under great leadership. We helped them establish a DEI committee and framework that included a DEI mission, vision, values, and a statement of commitment. Since then, Virtua has formalized the committee into a standing committee and subsequently launched training programs on DEI and unconscious bias. BCT has trained some of Virtua's physicians to mitigate bias in clinical practice, ensure patient satisfaction, and improve patient outcomes. What does the roadmap look like for BCT Partners?Hibbert: The growing nexus between DEI services, organizational change management, behavioral science, information technology and data analytics, creates an exciting space for us. Combining these four cornerstones has enabled us to curate unique solution sets that drive individual and organizational change. We have been building innovative tools that help organizations lay out a strategic plan and implement it. We are also developing techniques to disseminate information to our stakeholders and customers and track their performance along the learning journey. We are aware that the Biden administration has made formal commitments to addressing equity across its departments and agencies throughout the federal government, and we aim to support those efforts. BCT is here to not just tackle the personal and interpersonal dimensions of DEI but also to address institutions and systems that have disparities and inequities baked into them and dismantle them to be more equitable and just for all. At BCT, we are developing a growing cadre of services and solutions that deliver powerful insights into the increasing diversity in our societyLawrence Hibbert
